The Yongala Shipwreck is a 110m steel passenger and freight steamer. It sank in 1911 during a tropical hurricane with its 124 passengers. The Shipwreck was found only in 1958 and is now a main tourist attraction in Australia. You can see all sorts of sharks, turtles, hard & soft corals, whale sharks and on rare occasions humpback whales. The site ranges from 15 to 30 metres and often has a very strong current meaning this treat is often reserved for the more experienced diver.Well worth the trip though. This image shows the GPS co ordinates for this fantastic site and a dive plan.
